About FIBA 3x3 World Championship

The top level 3x3 basketball National Team event, the inaugural FIBA 3x3 World Championship is being hosted by the Hellenic Basketball Federation in the ancient city of Athens, Greece.

From 23-26 August, 96 men's and 96 women's players from 32 countries will come head to head in the Zappeion Park in downtown Athens.

The strongest nations in 3x3 basketball will do battle in six different events:

The Men's tournament, the Women's tournament, the Mixed tournament, the Shoot-Out contest (mixed), the Skills contest (women) and the Dunk contest (men).

All competitions are considered of equal importance.

Unlike the ‘open’ network of tournaments (which includes the FIBA 3x3 World Tour), at the FIBA 3x3 World Championship players do not create teams themselves, but are selected by their National Federations to represent their countries.

To be eligible, players must – of course – bear the nationality of the country they are representing, while they are also required to have played in at least one domestic FIBA endorsed 3x3 event such as 3x3 Challengers and Quests.
